Kopi Luwak or Civet coffee is renowned for its unique and complex flavor. In fact, the taste is not the only ting that this coffee has been renowned for. Since this type of coffee is rare and comes from a rather unusual cultivation, it is also renowned and regarded as the world’s most expensive coffee.

How is this type of coffee done?

When these coffee trees bore fruits, these fruits will become the most favorite food of civets that are thriving in nearby forests. Civet cats love coffee berries. Once these cats have eaten the pulps or fleshes of these fruits, the coffee beans will stay in their stomach for a period of one to one and a half days. After this period, you will soon see clumped beans under the trees or anywhere within the territorial areas of the plantation. These clumped beans that you see are actually the feces or poop from the butt of the civet cats. And this is where your Kopi Luwak Starbucks are made from.

Why is it that many people love this kind of coffee when in fact it came from the ass of a marsupial mammal? Well, the answer is easy. Simply because people love drinking coffee, they can hardly resist the enchanting charm, flavor, and aroma of Kopi Luwak. Even when this coffee is made from the beans that pooped out from the butt of civet cats, the digestive processes inside the cat are said to make the Kopi Luwak tastes oh, so yummy!
